In May 2025, Natalia Zuazo participated as an expert and trainer in the regional workshop «AI for Electoral Actors,» organized by International IDEA in Panama City. This event is part of a global series of executive training sessions aimed at strengthening artificial intelligence literacy among electoral authorities, civil society, and media organizations. The objective is to foster a critical understanding of the risks and opportunities that AI presents for democratic integrity, particularly in contexts of disinformation and discrimination against vulnerable groups.

During the workshop, Zuazo shared tools and strategies to address the ethical and regulatory challenges of AI in electoral processes. Her participation focused on promoting a technology governance approach that respects human rights and strengthens public trust in democratic institutions. The event brought together representatives from electoral bodies across Latin America, as part of a global effort by International IDEA, supported by Microsoft and OpenAI, to prepare democratic actors for the impact of artificial intelligence on elections.

A core part of the training focused on analyzing practical cases involving disinformation, the use of deepfakes, and other emerging forms of electoral manipulation. Through regional dialogue and collaborative work, participants explored mitigation strategies and regulatory frameworks to face these new challenges, reinforcing their commitment to transparent and trustworthy electoral processes.
