On October 23, during UNESCO’s Global Media and Information Literacy (MIL) Week 2025 in Cartagena, I will have the honor of moderating the panel “Influence in the Digital Space: Content Creation and Information Dynamics in Latin America.”

The session will bring together content creators, academics, and representatives from influencer associations across the region to explore how new digital voices are reshaping the information ecosystem and redefining who gets to “inform” in today’s society.

We will discuss the findings of UNESCO’s study “Influencers in Latin America: Content Creation, Information, Ethical Dilemmas, and Challenges of a New Type of Work,” examining how creators navigate truth, credibility, and responsibility in their platforms.

The debate will also highlight media and information literacy (MIL) as a key strategy to strengthen information integrity and promote ethical communication in a landscape increasingly shaped by generative AI and algorithmic influence.
